On to Russia
Brian left this morning for Russia. It was not easy at all to say good-bye to my best friend. I'm going to miss having him home with me and Emily. While this is only for a few months, it is hard to see the end when you are just at the beginning. I miss him so much already. Hopefully these next two months go by VERY quickly until we are reunited once again. While I'm no stranger to long distance in our relationship, this time feels so much tougher then those in our past.
I also tried to sneak into Brian's suitcase - no dice.

Update
So we saw a specialist about Emily's head. She does have torticollis, a condition in which her right neck muscle is a little tight so while she can easily turn her head all the way to the left, she still has about 10-15 degrees to go to turn it all the way to the right. This caused her to sleep a lot on the one side, therefor causing the back side of her head to be a little flat. It doesn't appear that she'll need a helmet (thank God!) but does need some physical therapy to work out her torticollis.
The physical therapist at the doctors office already gave us some tips on ways to hold her, etc to encourage her to stretch out that muscle. We also found out that certain toys we bought for her should be avoided to help strengthen her core, such as the bumbo and her jumperoo. Considering the bumbo was also recalled...I think that toy is going in the garbage.

Air and Water Show
We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday afternoon with my parents viewing the annual Air and Water Show. The weather couldn't have been any better for a day outside. Emily didn't seem to mind the loud jet engines of the Blue Angels and actually fell asleep at the end of their routine. Apparently she was not impressed...

4 Month Stats
Weight: 13 lbs 10 oz
Height: 25 1/4 inches
Emily still has a bit of a lopsided/asymmetrical head so we're thinking we should take her to a specialist. It's more of an aesthetic concern, we don't want her to be made fun of in the future for having ears that don't line up and glasses that sit on her face crooked! So she may or may not be sporting one of those super sexy helmets to help shape her head. We'll have to wait and see...

Weekend
Friday:
It's dangerous for me to go into baby GAP at anytime these days. Even more so when it's 30% off all their new fall clothes and I have a $20 reward. What's so fun is that I know Emily has nothing to wear for the fall so I feel free to buy her everything that looks cute. It's not like when I'm buying for myself and have to think about what I already have in my closet that I could "add" to. I always feel guilty buying something I have a million pairs of i.e. sweaters and jeans.
Here's a shot of Emily's new fall wardrobe. 5 tops, 2 sweaters, 3 pairs of leggings, 1 pair of booties and 1 headband.
Friday was also the day Emily hit the 4 month mark. So a little 4 month photo shoot took place that evening. She's getting the last out of her 0-3 size onsies.
Saturday:
Thinking Brian was going to be gone at this point we didn't believe we'd be able to make it to his friends wedding up in Madison. But with no official date set to leave he is still here and so we are making the most of what time he has left. We drove up to Madison with Emily, had enough time to buy her some Badger gear on State Street and then got ready for the wedding.
Brian and I danced like lunatics all night and had a GREAT time. I have bruises on my knees from a botched limbo attempt and we were voted MVP's of the dance floor the next day at brunch. A shout-out to Kaitlyn for watching Emily while we partied it up circa 2002 Madtown style!
I would add some pictures here but am horrible when it comes to having fun and remembering to take a few shots. Therefor I have zero photos from our quick trip to Madison.
Sunday:
Drove home, ate pizza, watched closing ceremonies.
Emily is dressed up in her "closing ceremonies" outfit. Had to try out the new giant headband!

Pool Day
As much as we have enjoyed going to the beach this summer, it was nice to hit up the suburban pool on Monday. You avoid having to lug around beach chairs, beach umbrella, and finding sand in "fun" places when you get home.
We still get a kick out of putting Emily in the water. So far she doesn't provide us with much to show she likes or dislikes the water. I feel that as long as she is not crying when we put her in that is a good sign. I enjoyed having the swim lanes to practice my stellar strokes. Though I think I should buy a pair of goggles to wear next time, my eyes looked like I had just spent an hour in Eric's basement from "That 70's Show."
I also challenged Brian to a race doing the free-style stroke and kicked his butt. Since I'm dubbed the "un-athletic" one in our relationship I have to brag any time I beat him at anything. Cheers to me!

...and passed out.
